We are a group of friends with common interests in building (boats) with sustainable materials, maritime heritage and use of Irish as a working language.
Our first curach building collaboration was in the Erris Gaeltacht at Pullathomas, County Mayo at Féile na Saoirse in 2015. There we built a Dunfanaghy currach over a week through Irish.
We quickly saw that this was a great formula for reclaiming the Irish language, community building, and community resilience building in sustainable skills.
We’ll be bringing this format to Ballingeary village in the Muscraí Gaeltacht in County Cork in August 2019.
